History of Woodsman Pal
Woodsman Pal was a 1941 design, the person behind this design was Frederick Ehrsam, who is the master of tools and also a professional architect-engineer. This design was originated to fill the gaps in Forestry, Horticulture and Agriculture tools.
Frederick Ehrsam found the importance of having a new tool that could help the people in this field that can make their work easier. Before this design came into existence these used multiple tools to complete the task. Frederick Ehrsam came up with an ideal design that can replace multiple tools with one single knife that can incorporate all the abilities and the requirements these people were looking for.
This design became the ideal friend to the people in the field of agriculture, horticulture and forestry. Soon this caught the eye of the US Army, US Military had an agreement with Woodsman Pal knife for manufacturing this unique design and they named it as LC-14b. This Knife just didn’t serve the US military it also served in US Airforce. Even now there are people praising this Iconic design.

History of Gerber Gator Machete Pro
To be frank, there is no ideal history for this design, Gerber Gator Machete Pro is basically a rebuilt or redesigned model of woodman’s Pal. As you all can see that makes no difference in the design, it’s only the materials and stability given to the knife made it unique. This Modelling got the eye of an audience in Walking Dead a famous TV show which showcased this design in the completes series.

Woodsman Pal Specification
The updated version of woodman’s Pal uses the 1074/1075 stainless steel. Which is heated up to 2500 degree Fahrenheit, which gives the extra added the ability to this defiant against corrosion.
It is painted with the blackened Powder which gives the awesome finishing to the blade.
Woodsman Pal design uses has Ash wood material which is coated with Urethane and dropped with a fine wax to give one extra grip. They have also done a pretty good work in handle design which helps you to get more grip and prevent from sleeping. Both sides of the handle are intact with a solid brass bolt to make the handle rigid and strong.
The sheath is completely hand-stitched and they use a material called brittle quality leather, that is later treated with a Neatsfoot Oil Preservative to give a plane finish.
They added a bell-like structure to give convenience on carrying these knife all around.

Gerber Gator Machete Pro Specification
The blade has the same design as that of the woodman’s Pal and has a black dark coating with the shape of the gut hook. Gerber legendary knife company have not specified the type of a blade material that is been used in this design, whereas they have specified it as superior-high-quality stainless steel. we believe that it would be the best quality as Gerber is one of the legendary companies in the Knife industry. The thickness of a plate is almost about 3 mm and blade length is 26 centimetres.
The handle of a Gerber Gator Machete Pro is made up of rubber and FRN, They say that using rubber and FRN materials in the handle can give an additional grip during handling the blade and when it is wet. It as a tactical survival knife handle design.
The sheath is made up of a military-grade nylon material which helps you to keep the blade at 90 degrees, helping in easy release of the blades when needed. The material is an added advantage to the sheath as it is a high-grade material that can last long years.

There is no exception for both of this design, as both are capable of doing their best in the same areas. They can be a friend to a survival enthusiast, outdoor people etc, These knives make the top cut in the survival Knife list which is capable of helping in multiple tasks. I would personally prefer woodman’s Pal even though it is bit costlier than Gerber Gator Machete Pro, because woodman Pal knife is been for over many decades and have been consistently changing their material and their balances to make it a best in the market, whereas the Gerber Gator Machete Pro is been released just before a few years back and constantly undergoing different changes to make his cut. But to be frank there are no drawbacks in Gerber Gator Machete Pro which would affect its performance. Both are Incredible knives and it’s all up to you now, to decide which come to your house.
